Paradise does exist!

The Placencia Peninsula is located in southern Belize and is a narrow sandy stretch about 16 miles long with access to the Caribbean Sea on the East and the Placencia Lagoon and Maya Mountains to your west. Soft sandy beaches, Caribbean sunsets, tranquility, delicious food, a laid-back lifestyle, natural harmony, great people and just an amazing vibe that quickly grows on you.  Most people that are fortunate enough to arrive here find it hard to ever leave.  You will find hotel guests that have been traveling here year after year for 20+ years.  What an amazing place to call home.

Placencia Village is an authentic section of town with a local flare, a variety of amazing restaurants that meet your every need, bars with sandy beaches you can sink your toes into, local art galleries, dive shops and the world’s best gelato!  Once on the Peninsula, you can get to the Village by renting a car or cart, biking along the two-lane/road, taking the local bus, or grabbing a taxi. Seine Bight Village offers you an insight into Garifuna culture and cuisine and is home to one of multiple options to stock up on groceries.

Silk Caye Marine Reserve

The entire 16-mile Placencia Peninsula is often referred to as just “Placencia”.  There are eight neighborhoods scattered along the meandering Caribbean stretch of beach.  A very healthy mix of expats and locals are intertwined in the neighborhoods to form a healthy community.

The Laughing bird National Park and the Silk Caye Marina Reserve offer memorable snorkeling with the opportunity to swim alongside sea turtles, spotted eagle rays, harmless nurse sharks and docile yet giant whale sharks.  With Placencia’s uncrowded waters, you will have these majestic creatures all to yourself as they swim past.  The feel of having the entire Caribbean Sea is your own private swimming pool, is just one of the many reasons people call this place home.  Hiking, birding, river running, zip lining  and even jungle mountain climbing is all less than an hour away by car.  The 121,000 acre Cockscomb National Park offers an amazing jungle setting as does the Bocawina National Park.  So much to do here.  Want to relax?  No better place exists!  Want to go all out and tackle the latest adventure?  It’s all right here!

Placencia is the second busiest tourist destinations in Belize behind Ambergris Caye and the hectic tourism town of San Pedro.  What Placencia offers is no match for Ambergris Caye or any spot in Belize.  Placencia is authentic and provides everyone with space to enjoy their surroundings.  You see, here the amount of real estate is defined by a very narrow 16 mile Peninsula compared to thousands and thousands of acres on Ambergris Caye.  We have no solid bedrock so builds are just a few stories, limiting high condo towers and has planned development throughout.  Most of the land has been divided into small single family lots so very few large parcels exist here that will suffice for any mega hotel, resort or condo project.  The Peninsula is very green; palm trees, bougainvillea, and hibiscus flowers blowing in the wind verses busy golf-cart clogged streets filled with engine noise and exhaust.  This paradise has not and never will be paved into a parking lot!

The Placencia restaurant scene is getting global recognition.  Tourist are starting to arrive just to experience the food, tropical rum, local coffee and chocolate.  Did I mention the very best Gelato on the planet?  It can be enjoyed right here on the Peninsula and you walk through the village to view the sea.  If you are one who need activity, Placencia has a local bowling alley, a new “professional” mini golf course, pickle ball and  tennis courts and soon a 9-hole golf course.  For the micro-brew aficionados, Placencia offers Hobbs Brewery and restaurant at The Barge.  Being bored here is only self-inflicted.

Due to the increase in tourism and the desire by foreigners to have their own part of this paradise, the real estate market has been very active over the years.  Fortunate folks are purchasing vacation homes, VRBO-type investments, hassle-free beach front condos, lagoon side homes with awesome views and boutique beach front hotels.  Prices have been rising for years and the demand and appreciation has been quite solid since 2020.  Fortunately, prices are still extremely reasonable and provide value for the property you get.

Placencia is a true community.  A place where people from all over the world merge, get along and just enjoy life.  This is not a pretentious setting but instead one of lifelong friends and family, well-being, happiness, explorations, peace of mind and self-rejuvenation. The Placencia Peninsula is truly a place to be and a place to live.  We are all so very fortunate to be able to call the Placencia Peninsula our home.  The Villas at Cocoplum is located in the premier location in the center of the Peninsula.  No better address exists here and, quite honestly, in all of Belize.
